A breath of fresh air in the green state.
A cloud has found its place in Burlington, Vermont — but unlike most clouds, this one is here to stay. “The Cloud” is a permanent installation in City Hall Park, designed in collaboration with our friends and neighbors at RENZ+OEI. What began as a conversation between Brooklyn-based designers Jean and Gabriel evolved into a sculptural kiosk proposal for the City of Burlington — causing us to create a structure that would blur the line between architecture and art.
We had been exploring how to reimagine clouds in graphic form, and when we shared sketches with Jean and Gabriel, the idea quickly took flight. Clouds, with their shifting, ephemeral nature, became the inspiration for a structure that embraces lightness, openness, and change. Rather than adhere to rigid architectural norms, “The Cloud” invites movement, interaction, and refreshment in a relatively neutral space.
Serving as a vending kiosk for a local food vendor, “The Cloud” becomes a visual anchor and uplifting presence in the heart of the city. Whether under sun or storm, it offers a fresh perspective: a sculptural form rooted in play.
