Shapes in the Night

A hidden utopia in Shimokitazawa's underground.

Created exclusively for the underground exhibition venue of Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa, this work explores the changing light of neon LEDs, bringing life to inorganic spaces with vibrant, explosive forms.
By placing bright, pulsating neon LEDs in a dark basement, these works create a luminous utopia in an otherwise deserted space, transforming it into a canvas of vibrant energy. The neon LEDs invite a shift in perspective, away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo's cityscape, paying tribute to the city's never-ending nightlife.
Through the interplay of light and dark, they invite a reconsideration of the value and potential of spaces that are often overlooked.
As with Wade and Leta's other works, this work is enjoyable for everyone. Their work aims to transform space and recontextualize the way we perceive it.
